Angel Tree Launch

Angel Tree  is organized by Prison Fellowship.  The aim is to connect incarcerated parents to their children by having church partners, (which is us) purchase and deliver gifts on behalf of the inmate. The gift provides a tangible expression of love which connects the incarcerated parent to their child. The child knows that they have not been forgotten by their parent who cannot be present.  The impact of the Angel tree program was described by one teenage participant this way…

“Angel Tree helped mend our relationship because every time my mom signed us up, she let me know she wasn’t just thinking about herself that holiday. She was thinking about us, too. It made me feel loved and cared for.”

Last year, St. James provided  gifts to 10 children, all of whom lived with family members or guardians in Auburn. The program was so well received by St. James parishioners, the children and their families, that we decided to expand the program to 20 children.

Each child will receive 2 gifts and so each has 2 gift tags, one for with a clothing wish and one for a fun gift wish. The tags are hung on the Angel tree at the back on the church on the left side as you exit the church. After choosing a tag, make sure to check out with one of the two leadership teams near the tree. We need to collect your contact information and  give you the off the bottom section of the tag to take with you when shopping.   It is recommended that you spend no more than $20-25 on each gift.  If you are unable to find the exact gift on the tag, a similar gift would be fine. All gifts are due back at the church by the weekend of December 3rd, gift wrapped and with the portion of the tag affixed to the outside.
